About George Soros
George Soros is the world-renowned philanthropist. Throughout his life, he has given out a total of 12 billion US dollars to charity. He was born in Hungary in 1930 during the Nazi occupation when life was filled with so many injustices. At a time when Hungarian Jews were being murdered, He and his family escaped being killed by faking identity papers and hiding their backgrounds.
1947 was the year George Soros fled to London to study economics. Mr. George would work as a waiter and as a railway porter to support himself financially through college. He later emigrated to the United States. Here, he tried his luck working at Wall Street. He, later on, started his own hedge fund in 1970. At one time when he was working at Wall Street, he managed to shorted the British pound which fetched him a tremendous profit. Due to the huge profit that he made, he was referred to as the man that broke the Bank of England. Since then, George Soros has been investing heavily in the financial markets and what George Soros knows.
Despite the intolerances that he underwent while still a child, Mr. George, managed to overcome all that, and emerge among the world’s famous philanthropists.
George Soros, the Philanthropist
He has, to date, been actively involved in philanthropy deeds that have put a smile on peoples’ faces. He has supported individuals and groups that fight for government accountability, freedom of expression, justice, and equality. For so many years, he has been supporting the marginalized group of people by being their voice. He has supported lawyers of people convicted unlawfully, paying university fees to individuals who looked promising, and contributed to support organizations and George’s lacrosse camp.

Open Society Foundations was founded by Mr. George Soros who is a strong advocate of an open society. Through this foundation, George has been able to extend his generosity to many people from different countries as well as advocate for positive policy changes.
